Despite our temporary physical office closure, the DMC Atlanta team has been more active than ever regarding our personal and professional development. We believe that time is our most valuable asset, and maintaining a student mentality is critical in the evolution of becoming the greatest version of ourselves. Honoring our values of ambition and resilience, the DMC Atlanta team continues to work remotely and log-on daily for virtual training modules, skills strengtheners, and camaraderie. Though this current situation may be challenging, we will not let it pause our goals or diminish our eagerness for growth.

Today, we want to share our teammates’ favorite quotes that spark their inspiration and the takeaways they have each learned throughout the course of the past six weeks in quarantine. Let the lockdown learning commence!

Julia Ling:

Quote: “The number one thing that has helped me push through this strange time is an excerpt from my devotional. ‘When I give you no special guidance, stay where you are. Concentrate on doing your everyday tasks in awareness of my presence with you.’”

Takeaway: “My biggest takeaway from the last six weeks is that you can’t let the uncontrollables control you. From a Zoom call I was recently on, I don’t have to fall into limiting beliefs, AND I get to write my own story in the midst of all this. I control what I do and how I act to provide for my future family.”

Alethea Burke:

Quote: “When the going gets tough, I do not have to get ready because I never got unready.” -Dave Anderson

Takeaway: “The need for personal reflection and taking time to slow down. Our lives are very busy and it’s easy to forget to take time to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and values. This time of having no choice but to slow down and observe solitude has made me realize how much true connection I was missing.”

Sofin Rajwani:

Quote: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” -Socrates

Takeaway: “My biggest takeaway of this lockdown is to examine myself and my work towards self-growth as much as I can both mentally and physically.”

Rae Stafford:

Quote: “If you rest, you rust.” -Helen Hayes

Takeaway: “I have continued to sharpen all my skills with operations, performance coaching, and recruiting. I have also focused on fun hobbies and advancing my skill set and knowledge with cooking, baking, art, and fitness! The quarantine has made me more appreciative for myself, and the power humans have, and the fact that every day, we possess the choice to get up and move, or stay stagnant. My choice has been to act as a shark every day!”

Tamera Monger:

Quote: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.”

Takeaway: “The time that we all have to spend together and get to know each other on a more personal level, and even time I get to spend with my family is amazing. A book I’ve been reading is, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. I feel like, during this period, I have more time to sit down and work on myself and find out my goals for what I really want to do.”

Kruti Patel:

Quote: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -A.A. Milne

Takeaway: “My biggest takeaway from the lockdown period is that self-development is a choice. Every person wakes up with an equal opportunity to improve their lives and their behaviors, and only some people take advantage of that. I’ve been working out consistently, holding myself accountable for my actions, and focusing on being a great student. So far, I’m liking the progress I’m seeing so far!”

Joseph Negley:

Quote: “Silence the noise, conquer the critical, and manage the minutiae.”

Takeaway: “We have a resilient team of people at DMC Atlanta who are committed to the continued success and growth of the company, and who have made it their personal mission to be more prepared than anyone else so that when we are back and ready to ramp up operations again, we will have a huge competitive advantage over our competitors because of the work we do every day.”

Tia Maiello:

Quote: “Invest in relationships. Life is hard. None of us have the strength to do it alone. We need people to encourage and inspire us so we can encourage and inspire others.” -Simon Sinek

Takeaway: “I have been able to slow down and enjoy my life a little, and really think of what is important. In the blink of an eye, the path that was your future can change. It is what we are doing now that is going to shape our new future path.”

Keenon Gresham:

Quote: “If you don’t come out of this quarantine stronger and more developed, you never lacked time, but lacked discipline.”

Takeaway: “My biggest take away has to be habit #1, proactivity, of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Proactivity means that as human beings, we are responsible for our own lives. Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions. You have to have a no victim mindset.”

Brittany Marchè Harrison:

Quote: “A quote that I have learned through all of this would be, ‘Don’t Quit.’ This is something that I have always gone by and even though things have been rough mentally and physically since our schedules have been different, I keep telling myself not to quit, even during a tough time.”

Takeaway: “Even when time seems to stop and things make it impossible to continue, we find ways to become stronger in all aspects. It has been a time that I can gain more knowledge on the company and learn new things about myself that I never really was able to focus on before.”

We hope that these remarkable quotes have given you the boost of motivation you need to conquer the remaining time in quarantine. As you can see, many of our teammates have taken away how vital both one’s mental and physical health is to success. In addition, most are using this time to brush up on skills and begin new hobbies.

DMC Atlanta knows that the outcome of this situation depends primarily on our mindset and how we utilize the extra time we have been given. We will continue sharpening the saw, putting our student mentalities into practice, and developing as a unit. We will see you at the top because it’s too crowded at the bottom!
