Suppose you’ve been following along with us for a while. In that case, you may have seen us post about Love Week, but what exactly are we celebrating, and why do we consider it an invaluable part of the company culture at DMC Atlanta? Today, we’re going to shed light on Love Week and its importance to our team every Valentine’s week. What could possibly be better than one day of love? A whole week!

“Being a great place to work is the difference between being a good company and a great company.”

– Brian Kristofek

As a people-focused business, our top priority is ensuring our teammates feel welcome, comfortable to learn, challenged to succeed, and valued for their efforts. When we heard about Love Week years ago from a company we came across, Mindvalley, we decided it was the perfect annual tradition to implement in our office. Essentially, there will be “angel” and “human” roles assigned among members for one whole week. The angels will have one human with the goal to shower them with love all week long! Whether that be in the form of gift-giving, bringing in a meal, giving a hug, or writing uplifting messages, the objective is to learn what this person enjoys and do whatever one possibly can to make the other person happy.

There’s no limit to what the angels can come up with. No matter how big or small, the goal is to be creative, have fun, and enjoy giving happiness to someone they care about. After all, a teammate that is brought joy in the workplace and feels valued is a teammate that will go above and beyond in their work, further strengthening both the company and team! This doesn’t mean we don’t get work done; we just do so with a bit of holiday flair! With appreciation comes productivity. People are willing to work harder when they know they’ll be recognized for a job well done.

At DMC Atlanta, we take on this tradition with much gusto. We decorate the office, have a fun photo booth area, bring in gifts, share warm words – the works. We want to connect with one another as much as possible during this time, creating relationships and an environment people are happy to be a part of each day.

“There’s no magic formula for great company culture. The key is just to treat your staff how you would like to be treated.”

– Richard Branson

We love this quote. There’s no exact formula; there’s no magic sauce. You have to ask yourself, “How would I want to be treated at work?” and “What would make me feel valued in the workplace?” Then, run with it, and have fun while doing so! This simple yet effective tradition has been a hit with the people of DMC Atlanta, and we know we’ll continue it for many years to come. We cherish every memory we make with one another and look forward to what else is in store.
