Talent flows in abundance here at DMC Atlanta. With 16 years of experience under our belts, we expect no less, though. Our team, like a well-oiled machine, hires only after carefully selecting individuals with a specific set of skills, skills ranging from communication ability to work ethic. Joey Negley, Account Manager here at DMC Atlanta, checked all of our qualification boxes when first interviewed in November 2019 and has continued to take our company by storm since. He showcases that with a foundation of desired attributes, hands-on training, ongoing leadership development, and a dedication to our company’s “why,” exponential growth can be expected within our organization.
Raised in Georgia since the age of 2, Joey described himself as a curious child, entertaining his parents with a steady stream of questions they came to expect daily. That inquisitive nature fed into a curiosity for sports and the arts, leading Joey into football, basketball, tennis, and baseball, as well as the choir and his school’s theater program.
It wasn’t until Joey’s junior year of high school, though, that he decided he wanted to pursue football at a collegiate level. This decision meant there was a lot of work to do his last two years to prepare, but Joey never balked at the goal in mind. True to his commitment, he started getting in the weight room more, watching film more, practicing drills more – anything to give him the competitive edge that would translate into a scholarship. And it did. Closing out his senior year, Joey had roughly 50-60 offers to play college football. He chose Furman University in Greenville, SC after stepping foot on their campus and feeling uniquely right at home, and spent the next five years there excelling both on and off the field. Joey graduated in 2014 with his BBA, eager to take on the workforce.
Thanks to his parents, who have served as essential factors in Joey’s educational and athletic successes, he always knew he would have a career in communications. Experiencing his parents’ career growth in both the real estate and car industries, his path to sales came as no surprise.
But, it took him time to make it to us here at DMC Atlanta. Joey first had to experience the growing pains of being stunted professionally in a different industry. After five years in the restaurant field, serving as high as a restaurant manager, Joey found himself capped with no room for growth. It was then he realized he needed a career path with no glass ceiling and found himself interviewing with DMC.
Attracted to the room for growth and our company’s “why statement,” Joey knew that if he put in the work, it would be a matter of time before he hit his goals. In the months since his start, Joey states that he finds himself more self-confident and that his position as an Account Manager has helped to improve everything from his ability to build personal relationships to his social interactions. Similar to football, Joey prepares, practices, participates, and performs. He delivers for our client week after week, establishing himself as a reliable, team-oriented contender both on and off the field.
By the close of 2020, Joey foresees himself looking at new market options for our client, prepping DMC for further expansion outside of Atlanta. With his athletic mentality, we see nothing short of that happening for him. He cites “people inside the office are so willing to help you and genuinely want to see you grow. It’s incredible.”
Beyond work, Joey is a big family guy who loves to spend time with his dog and girlfriend watching any Marvel or Harry Potter movie he can get his hands on. An earnest go-getter with sights set on winning, we know that whatever Joey puts his mind to, he’ll accomplish. And we can’t wait to witness it.
